The Killing Vote (2023)

Description:

The Killing Vote introduces a chilling new form of justice. When heinous criminals avoid punishment from the law, all citizens over 18 receive a text message, polling them on whether the person should receive the death penalty. If more than 50 percent respond in favor of capital punishment, the mysterious "Dog Mask," an unknown entity working in a virtual world persona, executes the individual. This alarming system creates a national moral dilemma and forces society to confront the boundaries of law and vengeance. The police are immediately on the case, with Kim Moo Chan, leader of the First Investigation Team, leading the relentless pursuit of Dog Mask. Officer Joo Hyun, from the Cyber Safety Bureau, lends her expertise to the complex investigation. Their efforts become intertwined with Kwon Seok Joo, a former famous legal scholar who himself committed vigilantism, raising profound questions about true justice in this volatile era.
